The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sirskyi made a decision regarding the defense of Avdiivka and Kup’yansk

Reserves are being mobilized for the defense of Avdiivka and Kup’yansk. Additionally, there will be troop and force repositioning in these directions to halt the enemy’s advance.

The corresponding decision was made following the visit of the new Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov to the Avdiivka and Kup’yans’k directions.

Sirskyi noted that troop repositioning of Ukrainian forces and the mobilization of reserves will be conducted to reduce the advancing potential of the occupiers.

“After reviewing the results of the operation, decisions were made promptly regarding the deployment of reserves, combat systems, fire support, and the repositioning of troops and forces in these directions, as well as the localization of enemy forces to reduce their offensive potential,” Sirskyi reported.

Sirskyi also discussed with the commanders the issue of combat support for the units.

“Given the rapidly changing situation on the battlefield, I have delegated authority to commanders to make urgent decisions autonomously to preserve the lives of personnel,” Sirskyi stated.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the occupiers are intensifying their efforts in the Avdiivka and Kup’yans’k directions, launching “meat-grinder assaults” with dozens and hundreds of soldiers and shelling the frontline territories.

At the same time, the Defense Forces are inflicting losses on the enemy. Only on the Avdiivka direction yesterday, Ukrainian defenders repelled 29 attacks by Russian occupiers.

Battles for Avdiivka
Since autumn 2023, Russian invaders have been attempting to capture the city. According to Ukrainian military sources, Russians have lost tens of thousands of soldiers in battles for Avdiivka.

Currently, the occupiers manage to approach the outskirts of Avdiivka. Another outpost of defense remains the coke-chemical plant.

The head of the Avdiivka Military Administration, Vitaliy Barabash, noted that the occupation forces are located in the private sector of the city. The Armed Forces of Ukraine believe that if the occupation forces advance to the supply artery in Avdiivka, it will complicate the logistics of our troops.
