The specialists of the Ukrainian intelligence, on January 30, as a result of a cyber attack, attacked the server used by the Ministry of Defense of Russia for special communication.

Experts of the Ukrainian intelligence today, on January 30, attacked the server of the special communication of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

This information was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on Facebook.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports that on January 30, 2024, as a result of a cyber attack, the server of the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor state Russia, used for special communication, was “taken down,” according to the statement.

It is noted that the cyber operation against the enemy in cyberspace was carried out by specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

As a result of the cyber attack, the exchange of information between units of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation using the specified server located in Moscow was interrupted.

The software on the attacked server was approved by the Russian FSB as meeting state standards for information security.

“The corresponding software was installed on various strategic objects of the state sector of Russia, including military ones. The cyber operation is ongoing”, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate.

Cyberattacks by Ukraine on Russia

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainian IT has been targeting websites of major Russian banks and state institutions. The websites of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Roskomnadzor, and Rosaviatsiya were disrupted. Large and state (propagandist) media outlets also ceased operations due to hacker attacks.

On the evening of Tuesday, January 30, Russia experienced widespread Internet network issues. Specifically, all websites in the “.ru” domain are not functioning.
