The US has exposed Russians recruiting Americans for the ranks of the FSB

The US has accused three Russians and four Americans of allegedly working for the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation and the Russian government in particular. The corresponding statement was published by the US Department of Justice.

According to the authorities, Russians allegedly recruited Americans into the ranks of the FSB “with the aim of spreading propaganda and sowing discord.” In addition, the accused allegedly secretly financed and controlled candidates for local offices in states, says the Ministry of Justice.

The charges were brought against a resident of Moscow and the founder of the so-called Anti-Globalist Movement of Russia, Alexander Ionov, as well as FSB employees Alexei Sukhodolov and Yegor Popov, who allegedly financed this movement.

Also charged were four US citizens who were allegedly recruited to work for Russia.

FBI representative Kurt Ronnou emphasized that this discovery “paints a horrifying picture of the actions of the Russian government and what the FSB will do to interfere in US elections, sow discord in the country, and ultimately recruit its citizens for their efforts.

On March 15, 2023, a spy network working for Russia and preparing sabotage in the country was discovered and neutralized in Poland.

On April 13, Norway declared 15 employees of the Russian embassy persona non grata.
