The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland: we do not feel an immediate military threat from Russia, but we are ready for anything

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, stated that her country does not currently feel an “immediate” military threat from Russia, but is prepared for any circumstances. She informed Telegraph about this in an interview.

According to her, Finland has a long border with Russia and has previously experienced invasions.

“We know what is going on and what threat is emerging before us. This probably also explains why Finns sympathize so much with Ukrainians. We do not feel an immediate military threat from Russia. We are ready for any circumstances,” said Valtonen.

She noted that for many years, Russia has been conducting cyberattacks against Finland and other European countries.

The diplomat stated that Moscow has also used citizens of third countries as its instrument on the border.

“We had to close the entire eastern border at the end of last year because we see that Russia is likely to threaten us in the long term. Disinformation and propaganda have always existed, but I think Finns know well what is true and what is not,” summarized the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
