Latvia will provide drones to Ukraine for 1 million euros

On April 4th, Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, arrived in Latvia and met with his Latvian counterpart, Evika Silina.

Ukraine and Latvia discussed bilateral cooperation

Shmyhal reported that during the meeting with Evika Silina, they discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including military-technical assistance.

During a joint press conference, Silina stated that in April, Latvia planned to provide Ukraine with a new package of assistance.

“And we have envisaged donations both in terms of material-technical items and ammunition and weapons that we have. Ammunition is especially important for Ukraine. This is also what we discussed today. Explosives, transportation, weapons, individual equipment are very important.

She added that her country has joined the drone coalition and will soon transfer a batch of drones to Ukraine.

“Soon, we plan to send the first UAVs worth a total of 1 million euros. The drones have already been tested. Our colleagues have recognized them as meeting the requirements”.

In addition, Latvia supports the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine. The country will allocate 10 million euros for this.

“We will also provide the necessary equipment and offer rehabilitation to Ukrainian soldiers,” she added.
