Why Ukraine cannot hold peaceful negotiations with Putin: explanation by Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba

Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba stated that Kyiv cannot engage in peaceful negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin because he cannot be trusted.

He made this statement in an interview with NHK.

According to him, Putin cannot be trusted because even if he gives his word, there is no guarantee that he will not violate it.

“He’s not the kind of person you can seriously negotiate with. If you think you’ve successfully negotiated with him, you’re putting yourself at risk of an attack from his side,” Kuleba noted.

According to the head of Ukraine’s foreign affairs, the more successful Ukraine is on the battlefield, the more willing Russia may be to engage in negotiations. However, he does not see a window for negotiations with Russia in the near future.

“If we want to exist as a nation, if we want to survive, we must win, no matter the cost,” Kuleba asserted.

The head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed disappointment with recent criticism from Western countries regarding Ukraine’s progress in the conflict.

He added that those who sit in their chairs and comment on the pace of advancement should not tell Ukrainian soldiers that they are too slow because they are sacrificing their lives in this fight and deserve full respect.
